“The opportunities for scams or fraud or gaming systems are just amazing. The entrepreneur behind DoNotPay, a free online chatbot that has successfully fought around 375,000 parking tickets in New York, Seattle, and the U.K. For those of you new to it, here's how it works: Sign up with mobile number (only way to join) Immediately asked for credit/debit/bank. However, the entire setup is very sketchy. It has expanded a lot since there, and now offers a variety of services. “It’s going to wreak all sorts of havoc,” Autor says. So I heard of DoNotPay years ago as a chat bot that helped people with parking tickets. But he sees plenty of potential for disruption in both workplaces, through commercial adaptations of ChatGPT-like systems, and wider society, through malicious uses. David Autor, an economist at MIT who studies the impact of AI on labor, says it’s too early to say whether this new generation of AI technology will augment human work or replace it. That vision sees language software helping humans in the workplace, but ChatGPT has sparked speculation about how it might displace people from certain kinds of office work. “lf the AI has context around who you're communicating with and why, it could help you generate an email,” Reshef says. But he says a tool like ChatGPT could be trained with knowledge of a particular company or person to help improve a pitch. As a robot lawyer, DoNotPay uses artificial intelligence to provide users with legal services and a legal information platform. Reshef says that the propensity of language generators to fabricate means that a person should still supervise the technology and that systems that invent too freely won't be trusted by salespeople. What is DoNotPay DoNotPay is a legal service bot developed by Joshua Browder in 2015. Gong uses AI to analyze the text of sales pitches used on calls and in writing and to provide feedback to salespeople. Eilon Reshef, cofounder and chief product officer at Gong, a company that uses AI to optimize sales, sees lots of potential in ChatGPT. Some businesses are already using AI language models to help salespeople hone their pitches. “Regardless, you will establish yourself as a leader in legal technology by having a cool bot link to share.Jonas Kaiser, an assistant professor at Suffolk University in Boston who studies online misinformation and algorithmic recommendations, says the cost of creating large language models-often tens of millions of dollars-means that big companies may have an edge. “Companies can and presumably will train the language model on a certain desired outcome-for example a customer dropping their complaint or signing a new contract,” he says. DoNotPay is an AI-powered platform that provides users with a wide range of legal services, from fighting corporations and beating bureaucracy, to helping users sue anyone with the press of a button. “You can use your bot to save money within your business, provide a better experience to clients or improve access to justice,” he wrote. PST on July 24, the chatbot would be generated within 24 hours and housed on the DoNotPay server. According to a blog post in Medium, Browder said that individuals may fill out a form and submit a proposal for a chatbot to DoNotPay. On Friday, Browder unveiled the latest update to DoNotPay: A service allowing anyone to create their own legal chatbots for free and with no technical knowledge required. ![]() I hope DoNotPay gives more people a way to stand up for their rights.” Previously, the main way to correct this unfairness was to pay a lawyer hundreds of dollars to copy and paste a document. Half of all parking tickets are dismissed in New York. Employers don’t respect the right to maternity leave. “Credit card companies charge the poor more for the same thing. ![]() ![]() “I think the world is such an unfair place,” Browder, a 20 year-old student at Stanford University, told Mashable. DoNotPay, which has overturned 375,000 parking tickets as of this month, has previously undergone expansions to provide help for homeless people, as well as to handle asylum claims for refugees. Using natural language and a chat interface, the chatbot asks users a series of questions relating to their legal issues and generates a letter or form they can submit to the relevant authorities. Last week, DoNotPay creator Joshua Browder announced that the legal chatbot will cover nearly one thousand additional legal areas, including consumer rights, employment law and landlord-tenant disputes. DoNotPay, the legal chatbot that rose to fame as a tool for drivers to challenge traffic tickets without having to consult a lawyer, has dramatically expanded its capabilities.
